about [by] Design

Not to belabour but … Oh Why not! Everything is by design when seeking to produce, promote and brand. Or it should be. I look upon design, whether it be for print or web, as representative of a project’s persona in toto. The first thing I do when taking on a new project is ask questions and listen. Then discuss! Every project has a unique flavour that should reflect/enhance/depict the personality of the entity it is being created for. Yes, I have a style, a signature, that I bring to the table, but that style has to be able to give a voice, a unique voice, to each and every undertaking.

This is a place to find some of the latest projects undertaken and the occasional rambling of thoughts about design, web development and media: social, print, audio and visual!

Something About Me …

The plain facts are: I am a photographer, a graphic designer, and I have been hardcoding websites since 1993. Blatant Trumpet Tooting includes revamping and redesigning the very first online searchable database of business listings for Entrepreneur Magazine Online, a lead outsource web developer for Franchise Business related sites (which included launching bits and bobs for Sears Roebuck, Merry Maids and a slew of other interesting things my Mum remembers but I don’t … what can I say? She’s tickled pink by some of the things I’ve done :))

That was Then … What About Now?

My favourite projects have been the smaller “grass roots” kind. I often discover some one, some organisation, that is trying to promote something that could make life better, add meaning, be proactive on a local level rather then try to change the World top down. These are the projects I love! It has always been my ethic to take on work for things I like … and to be reasonable in how much it costs.

As I live in Cornwall, just outside Penzance, my preference is to undertake design projects within the area: from Penzance to Helston, but given the nature of communications these days, anywhere in the world is an option. Which I suppose means anywhere on the other side of the Tamar Bridge!
