Photography and the Black Art [Printmaking]

Something about …

Photography is a family thing. My grandfather was an early film distributor and developer for Kodak in Southeast Asia and studied under Carl Hans Koch. My mother was his rebellious assistant, but still quotes from his pithy thoughts on how to make an image. The first camera I used was my mother’s brand new (in 1976) Canon AE-1. Those early lessons became part of a knowledge-base that served me in Print, Media & Public Relations and Web Design work for almost thirty years: encompassing independent visual projects on a variety of subject matter, including documenting in photography and film the successful political campaign of a congressman in Sonora, Mexico.

I live in southeast Cornwall and am active in several literary and arts organisations, as Founding Member of the Penzance Literary Festival and serving on the organising committee for five years, and the ad hoc artists collective fastj&m
